摘要

Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) is a volatile substances which figures in a number of fires, explosions, and injuries in the United States each year. Through local accident investigations, the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) inferred that valves influence the course of LPG-related fire incidents at liquid transfer facilities. NIOSH, therefore, undertook this investigation to establish the role that valves could play in LPG-related fire incidents. Information on file at NIOSH and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) was reviewed and incorporated into a logic tree analysis and diagram. On the basis of this investigation, several conclusions were reached and a central question was answered.
