Ice Impact Model Tests for Three Bow Forms of a Vessel. Volume 1. Short Analysis of the Test Results

In summer 1987 a project was initiated in the Laboratory of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering in Helsinki University of Technology, where fundamental phenomena of ship-ice interaction are to be studied (Riska 1988). The main goal of the whole project is to build a mathematical model for ship-ice interaction. The purpose of this test series is to generate model test data, which can be used to verify the results of theoretical calculations. The report aims at presenting the measurement system and obtained results in detail. An analysis of measured and calculated results is done separately.
