Finite Volume Methods Constructed by Mixed Variational Formulation. Part 1:Description of the Discretization Technique

Cell centered finite volume methods for solving the diffusion equation withnatural or essential boundary conditions are constructed by approximating a mixed variational formulation. While for special grids known schemes are reproduced, a new proposal is put forward, especially for general quadrilateral meshes.
