Tape-recorded time-rate chemiluminescence (TR) responses to 18different materials in liquid slurry and aerosol form were studied using an automated computerized analytical technique for accurate rendition of the original signals. The slope factor has high values for fast-reacting materials and lower values for slow-reacting materials. Normalized slope factors were obtained which were independent of TR response curve peak heights. Normalization was accomplished by measuring the peak response output voltage and division of the measured slope by the peak voltage. The normalized slope factor values are compared to score factor values for evaluation of slope for group identification. Data are presented showing normalized slope factors and standard deviations in slope and score factors and corresponding deviations in score. Score factors gave more reliable group separation than slope factor measurements.
