Having fun with dumpling skin: material physics made alive in the kitchen

摘要

We report a school project which equips students with both theoretical andpractical knowledge in material physics. We construct dumpling skins from amixture of flour and water. A series of experiments is then conducted toquantify the toughness, hardness, and tensile strength of the skins, and howthey are affected by adding other materials into the original material to formcomposite materials.
