Libya’s interim prime minster, Ali Zeidan, is threatening to use military force to reopen ports blockaded by striking petroleum facilities guards. Widespread protests continue to keep Libyan crude production at under 700,000 b/d, down from 1mn b/d in July and 1.4mn b/d in May. The Marsa el-Hariga port reopened briefly, officials said on 16 August.
