New drying plant starts up: Plant for drying aluminium ingots, T-bars and jumbos relies on a multiple chamber system

In foundries an underestimated problem is the charging of melting furnaces with wet aluminium. Because of the abrupt expansion of water in liquid aluminium explosions in the melting furnaces cannot be ruled out. This may result in damage to property and personal injury. Based on this problem a plant had to be developed which pre-dries and preheats wet aluminium as economical as possible before charging it into a melting furnace. A positive side-effect is the energy saving during the melting process and an increase of the melting capacity.
