As Western military forces continue to pound troops loyal to Muammar Qaddafi, Western politicians are tightening the financial noose around the Libyan leader. The European Union on Wednesday adopted legislation to extend its asset freeze to Libya’s National Oil Corp. (NOC) and to “five subsidiaries of the NOC designated autonomously by the EU.” The measures will enter into force today upon their publication in the EU’s Official Journal.
