The decision to automate a welding process has been made. Now it's time to select the equipment that performs the robotic welding. It is critical to take care in choosing the appropriate equipment and an integration partner. Every component in the work-cell is crucial for a successful integration and an expedient return on investment. With manual welding, overwelding is commonly done to prevent product failure and ensure that the part isn't rejected. Generally, this can substantially affect the bottom line. A robot is repeatable and delivers a consistent weld, and it can be programmed to weld to the appropriate specifications to produce a high-quality product and reduce consumables and labor costs associated with overwelding. As with many applications, different system concepts offer the features to allow you to weld your assemblies. But by focusing on critical issues such as material flow and part staging, cycle time and mix of production requirements, you can select the workcell that seamlessly integrates into the manufacturing environment while performing to established manufacturing principles and philosophies.
