摘要

With thousands of miles of pipeline to inspect and maintain, Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) is turning to technology to help in its inspection programs. The California-based utility recently showcased some of that technology at its Milpitas Gas Terminal in Milpitas, California. The next generation in "smart pig" technology that PG&E touted is fast becoming a key part of its tool box for "in-line inspection." Representatives were on hand from PII Pipeline Solutions - a GE Oil & Gas and Al Shaheen joint venture - which developed the SmartScan inspection technology being used this week on a 15-mile stretch from Fremont to San Lorenzo.
