It's been nip and tuck for Vauxhall, which bounced back from near-oblivion to enjoy a strong position in the British market. Now, with GM Europe up for bids, the marque faces its biggest challenge yet. Vauxhall, as Vauxhall, is living on borrowed time. By rights it should have gone down the tubes long ago. In the 1960s, when General Motors' European daughters Opel and Vauxhall operated independently, the British company did itself no favours.
