Sales of smaller "commuter scoots" are rising nicely to defy the economic gravity that has pulled down motorbike sales overall and devastated certain motorbike sectors. Latest figures from the Motorcycle Industry Association show that scooter sales year-to-date increased by 19.3% in 2011 even as the bike market generally fell 2.9% and sports bike and tourer bike sales crumbled by 32.5%.
