Western Australia's resource sector will be generating around 49 dollars billion and directly employing 60,000 people by 2015, according to the State's chamber of minerals and energy. However, WA will not be immune to the slew of problems currently hitting the Australian mining industry-- namely the growing skills shortage, industrial relations reforms, land access restrictions, ad hoc changes to regulations, unclear taxation regimes and delays in project approvals for time sensitive projects. In its new publicationBedrock 2005: Expanding Horizons, the Chamber of Minerals and Energy WA examined the trends, markets and key impacts on the global outlook for the resources sector to 2015 and their "It is part of an essential conversation to have as WA industry rises to meet the challenges of opportunity in the decade ahead," WA Governor, Lt-Gen John Sanderson AC, said at the document's official launch.
