The University of Wisconsin's Food Research Institute annual meeting, held in late May of 2015, brought together scientists, regulators, public health representatives, and industry professionals to discuss alternatives to antibiotic use in food animals, the future of microbiome research and its applications, current topics in microbial food safety (norovirus research and the caramel apple listeriosis outbreak], novel antimicrobial technologies, and Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) implementationstrategies.
