LME fee-reforms: too little, too late?

Mixed news are coming from and about the London Metal Exchange (LME). At least the fees are coming down: it took the LME-members, brokers and traders more than 20 months of grumbling. Some simply voted with their feet, taking their trade to other exchanges like the CME (Chicago Mercantile Exchange), the Comex in New York or the SHFE, the Shanghai Futures Exchange in mainland China.
