The need for innovation in entrepreneurship pedagogy The need for innovation in pedagogy in general has long been recognized. In 1968 the OECD created a Centre for Research and Innovation in teaching (CERI) to help educational stakeholders deal with the challenges affecting the educational domain. A key question posed was how teaching methods and the acquisition of knowledge might advance in parallel with scientific progress and technological innovation. The role of innovation in the classroom itself was seen as critical, as was change within the system of education (Istance and Shadoian, 2009). These issues remain important, perhaps even more so than in the 1960s, given the climate of uncertainty created by the recent economic crisis. Social, political and technological change continue to raise questions about the appropriateness of traditional teaching methods: the need for innovation in pedagogy seems more imperative than ever.
