Termites: A Menace to the Bushes of Cachar Tea Garden

Termite is the predominant factor causing deaths of young and nature tea bushes responsible for bogging down the yield of tea sections. Complete eradication of Termites is not possible, rather termite intensity can be reduced of can be kept under control if proper cultural practice and right choice of chemical is judiciously planned and implemented. Termites resemble ants, but they do not belong to the same family of ants. It is interesting to note that termites have their own colonies, with different castes, such as workers, soliders, the queen. Their prefer dry weather, in rains they are not seen, they build they nest beneath the soil, the structure of nest is somewhat like honey comb. They are well organised with proper distribution of labour.
