PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new tending machine for shade cultivation of a tea plantation which enables tending work to smoothly be conducted without an obstacle to running and operation of the tending machine due to the hanging of a shading material even if the shading material such as a chemical fiber sheet having been drawn in hangs low when carrying out tea plantation-tending work such as plucking in a shade cultivation-type tea plantation. ;SOLUTION: This tending machine 1 for shade cultivation of a tea plantation is equipped with a tending machine body 3 for performing various kinds of tea plantation-tending work on a running gear 2 the upper deck 14 of which is provided with a matting-fending guard 16 for receiving a shading material S covering the upper part of the tea plantation and capable of smoothly fending the material S toward the side at the upper rear of the tending machine with the running of the tending machine.
