A COMPLETE strip and rebuild of a LeTourneau L-1400 wheel loader at the Mount Thorley coal mine in New South Wales is said to have given the machine a 30,000-hour life extension for about half the cost of a new loader.Introduced at the mine in 1992, the 200-tonne loader at Mount Thorley was the first production model L-1400 in the world and is one of two of the machines operating at the mine today. the initial unit has logged about 40,000 operating hours loading coal or shot overburden.
