A car wheel is made of fibre-reinforced plastic. A fibrous textile tube or stocking, having an uneven two-dimensional distribution of fibres, is further modified in fibre distribution, to form the wheel, which is then consolidated. Pref. consolidation is effected by melting and cooling a thermoplastic incorporated in the tube. The fibrous material comprises reinforcing fibres and matrix fibres, of which at least one and pref. both, have an unequal two-dimensional distribution. Also claimed is a wheel suitable for an car, formed as described, and having a rim suitable to receive a car tyre.
