Girdlestone手術と連合筋皮弁移植により治癒し得た大転子部巨大褥瘡の1例

We report on an 81 year-old male patient who had a large, deep pressure ulcer in the greater trochanter followed by severe suppurative arthritis of the hip joint, or a septic hip. Girdlestone arthroplasty, which resects the proximal femur and grinds the acetabular roof of the hip joint, was successfully applied. The subsequent reconstruction using combined muscle flaps accelerated the wound healing of a large dead space in the joint cavity without major complications such as necrosis, hematomas, fistulas, or recurrent infection. The patient was discharged from the hospital for home care service.
