摘要

THE OIL AND GAS WORKFORCE has shrunken considerably as a result of the global downturn. An April 2017 Rystad Energy report found that the top 50 oilfield service companies, including drilling contractors, had eliminated 300,000 upstream jobs worldwide since 2014. This represented a devastating 35% of the total workforce at these 50 companies. At the same time, it's believed that increasing energy demand in the coming years will create a critical need to attract, develop and retain talent in the oil and gas industry. Paul de Leeuw, Director of the Oil and Gas Institute at Scotland's Robert Gordon University, said in a presentation at the 2017 Offshore Europe that an additional 4 million oil and gas workers will be needed globally in the coming years.
