摘要

The demographic make-up of the workforce has changed over time in that there has been a decrease in the proportion of young people and an increase in the proportion of working age people and those aged 60 and over. This has led human resource (HR) management to focus on the best ways to manage the transmission of skills and expertise from knowledgeable workers to new recruits in the company. Alongside this there have been changes in the nature of work itself including increased workloads, time constraints, less secure working conditions and greater expectations for multi-tasking and flexibility. The development of programmes to assist in the transmission of know-how between the generations from the older, experienced employees to new workers is therefore an important area for investigation.
