LEGAL: Environment/Regulation: The Supreme Court permits 10-day extension of BSIV vehicle sales post lockdown

New Delhi-The Supreme Court in Delhi has passed legislation permitting vehicle retailers to allow sales of 10% of unsold Bharat Stage-IV compliant inventory within 10 days from the official date of when the Covid-19 lockdown ends, except in the National Capital Region. Currently lockdown has been extended until Mid-May. Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (FADA) petitioned the Supreme Court in Delhi for an extension to the BSIV-compliant vehicle sales beyond the original March 31, 2020 deadline requiring them to cease sales and move to selling BSVI-compliant vehicles, because of the lockdown in India to control the spread of COVID 19 virus.
