OUTLOOK 2010: 2010 looks like a better year for the oilpatch than 2009

Last year proved to be a debacle for. most oil and gas industry forecasters. The Canadian Association of Oilwell Drilling Contractors (CAODC) initially predicted a well count of 14,325 wells for 2009. The Petroleum Services Association of Canada (PSAC) was even more Optimistic at 16,750 wells. The Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP) initially estimated 14,700. As the global recession slashed energy consumption and prices throughout 2009, the associations repeatedly found themselves forced to reduce their well estimates.
