A RELATIVELY NEW CONCEPT in education, a flipped classroom design is based on student-led learning and preclass preparation of the course material. As more high schools, colleges, and universities have adopted this inverted classroom structure, it's quickly become popular with students, teachers, and administrators. In a flipped classroom, students experience enhanced learning of course content through small group activities, class discussions, and student presentations. In addition to lecturing, instructors spend more time assisting students with the learning process, opening up their classrooms to new possibilities and ideas. Administrators observe increased satisfaction among students and teachers in the flipped classroom setting.
