Baltic Exchange to change dry index

The Baltic Exchange is reviewing possible changes to its dry bulk indices ahead of the upcoming IMO sulphur regulations. The proposal is to specify that the standard Capesize vessel — the vessel that participants must assume is being used when giving their rate indications — for its Baltic Capesize timecharter rates has no scrubber or is “not scrubber fitted”. The proposal was outlined at a recent working group in London, which was attended by over 100 market participants and followed on from similar meetings in Athens, Copenhagen and Singapore.
