When acetals such as MOM ethers,MEM ethers,and THP ethers were heated in ethylene glycol or propylene glycol,solvolysis proceeded smoothly to produce alcohols in excellent yield.This reaction is a very promising method for chemoselective deprotection of acetal type protecting groups.
