US ethanol production last week fell to lowest recorded level: EIA

Houston — US ethanol production for the reporting week that ended Friday edged down 6,000 b/d to 796,000 b/d after six weeks of losses, falling to the lowest level since the Energy Information Administration began recording production data in June 2010, EIA data showed Wednesday. This broke the previous week's record of being the lowest ethanol production number recorded level by the EIA. Ethanol stocks also declined as they fell 551,000 barrels to 19.005 million barrels, the second-lowest level reported so far in 2012, on decreases in the East Coast, Midwest and West Coast. Overall stocks had not been this low since being reported at 18.773 million barrels for the week ended January 6.
