Codex Commission prepares to set five-year course at next annual meeting

After a highly contentious meeting last year, the Codex Commission is taking a breather, anticipating little or no controversy at its five-day meeting, in Rome, in July. Rather, approving new standards for additives, contaminants, pesticide residues and the like will take a back seat to celebrating Codex's 50~(th) anniversary and adopting a strategic plan to set the 185-member intergovernmental organization's course for the next five years.
