Transocean Winner pollution risk

The semisubmersible drilling rig Transocean Winner that ran aground on the Isle of Lewis after a severe storm severed its towline has a risk of pollution, according to reports. The rig, now grounded at Dalmore near Carloway on Lewis, was carrying 280 tonnes of diesel and is now being monitored by a counterpollution team. The Stornoway Coastguard said last night that the risk of pollution is considered to be low. However, the grounding has caused calls from politicians for an emergency tug to be based in Stornoway.
