The main factors behind the Transocean Winner semi-submersible rig becoming grounded on the Isle of Lewis last year have been named as the poor condition of the tow line and high winds, says a report into the incident. The UK's Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) published the report on the grounding of the Transocean Winner following the loss of tow from the Dutch registered tug ALP Forward on 8 August 2016.
