The owner of the Transocean Winner rig has been asked to prepare contingency plans for the unit to remain in an island bay over winter. Opportunities for loading the rig on to the Hawk semi-submersible heavy-lift vessel in Broad Bay, Lewis, are running out as poor weather conditions have hampered the effort to lift the 17,000 tonne rig onto the Hawk.
