摘要

As governments start to move forward with this month's historic Iran nuclear deal, oil and gas companies considering post-sanctions deals will be gauging the threat of a reimposition of sanctions under so-called "snapback" provisions. A largely unnoticed clause in the Jul. 14 deal -- also included in this week's UN resolution -- appears to offer an insurance policy for investors against the reinstatement of sanctions in the event of a "significant nonperformance" by Iran, by "grandfathering" deals already signed at the time of any reimposition.
