The main directions of modernization of the systems of pipeline transport of oil and gas are discussed. The twenty-first century imposes stringent requirements on the reliability and safety of transmission pipelines and facilities of the oil industry. Therefore, one of the main scientific and practical tasks is the construction of a new generation of transmission pipelines with longer service lives (20-25 years longer) in comparison with currently operating pipelines. The increase of the nominal working pressure to 9.8-14.0 MPa in the designed transmission oil and gas pipelines requires pipes with higher strength and toughness. Correspondingly, there are new requirements on all elements and technological chains of the pipeline transport system: welding methods, corrosion protection, laying methods, construction technology, control, diagnostics and monitoring systems, etc.
