THE repertoire of T-cell antigen receptor (TcR) can be effectively analysed by an approach with quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR), which allows to characterize the expanding T-cell clones by the patterns of restricted usage of TcR V and Jregion genes. The T-cell clone expansion is usually driven by an antigen peptide complexed with one kind of allel-ic molecules of HLA, the human major histocompatibility complex (MHG). The using of T cell clones has shown its prospect in developing T cell vaccine for the specific immunotherapy of cancer. Although some encouraging results have been obtained with regard to the TcR repertoire analysis in, for example, human melanoma and liver cancer, some of the studies seemed to neglect the relevant HLA background of cancer cells, which may account for, -at least in part, the discrepancy of TcR gene usage patterns reported in different individuals bearing the same carcinoma.
