Thirty-four percent more potatoes were shipped out of the Red RiverValley through November 30th than one year ago. Unfortunately prices are half of what they were last year at the same time.Several factors have figured into the current $10 per hundredweight tote price for #1 size A reds, but no factor is larger than the size of the U.S. crop. The U.S. fall crop is estimated to be at least 12 million hundredweight larger than last year. Thefresh crop in the Red River Valley is the largest since 2008 and 12 percent larger than last year.
