CPT's SpeedStart starter-generator ready for application engineering

UK - Low carbon technology development specialist of low voltage power electronics and machines, Controlled Power Technologies (CPT) of Laindon and Coventry, is now ready to bring its belt-integrated starter-generator, called SpeedStart, developed for a new generation of micro-mild hybrid vehicles to the next stage in its development. Speedstart is ready for application engineering and development for mass production, as it has completed more than two years of validation and 1.2 million stop starts without issue. Developed by CPT (in conjunction with Nidec SR Drives, Harrogate) for 12, 24 and 48 volt applications in cars and on- and off-highway commercial vehicles, the frequency and durability of SpeedStart's stop-start capability far exceeds the 300,000 stop starts currently mandated by the vehicle OEMs, says CPT.
