摘要

Healthcare- arguably the largest industry in the twenty first century across the world-has been greatly impacted by globalization. In just a few years, globalization has already become our daily frame of reference, even if we have never traveled abroad or spoken a second language. We experience instant global communications; wear, eat and use products developed by an integrated, almost seamless, commerce and trade global economy. We interact with services perceived to be local that are actually emanating from remote parts of the globe that we have never heard of. Healthcare markets have become globalized as well. Whereas medical tourism had initially benefited top healthcare providers in the US, medical tourism has now shifted to other countries as competition based on cost and value has increased. This is possible as a result of the globalization of business, communications - and increasingly healthcare quality standards.
