MANAGEMENT OF E-LEARNING MATERIALS USING ACTIVE TECHNOLOGIES

The paper deals with the problems of active technologies application to the management of the curriculum development and learning materials presentation via Web. The main aim is to enhance the management of e-learning materials, and to personalize presentation of necessary information using active technologies. Different active XML methods based on ECA (event-condition-action) model have been analysed. Usage of analysed methods is restricted by lack of available implementation means. An original XML extension, which enables to define active rules, has been created, and its syntax is presented. The XML ECA rules interpreter is developed, and system architecture is described. The results of investigation are implemented in the project MOCURIS. Operation of the system approved its satisfactory efficiency and showed possibility to use achieved results solving similar tasks.
