摘要

Given the current training opportunities and challenges for companies within our sector, it is no surprise there is such a diversity of opinions on the subject. While I've already shared my view on the deferral of Proskills's National Skills Academy plan by the Learning and Skills Council (Letters, PrintWeek, 15 August), I think it's worth adding a fresh perspective to two of the summer's other big training stories. In the article headlined 'Printers unite in training change plea' (PrintWeek, 26 June), it was stated that printers had joined with the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) in demanding that their on-the-job training is formally recognised. Quite rightly, both Richard Bloxham, head of marketing communication at Proskills, and Ruth Exelby, BPIF head of commercial training, had some sympathy with the FSB, with the proviso that the training in question was of the highest quality.
