The Krebs Shipyard: Fishing smacks a specialty

Very little has been written about the maritime history of the Gulf Coast of Mississippi. For many years, there were numerous small shipyards there, many of which were short-lived. The little fishing village of Pascagoula was only one of several towns that was home to a number of these yards, producing uncounted wooden vessels of all types, from small coastal fishing boats to five-masted barkentines built during World War I. Other than official government records, public and private collections, and personal accounts, there are very few published accounts of this incredible story. Photographs are scarce, and very few half models survive.
