Storm Bay: The return of a Tasmanian fishing smack

In 1972, then-20-year-old Tim Phillips first saw STORM BAY high and dry on a slipway at St. Helens in northern Tasmania. She was a rarity: a working smack with all the hallmarks of a classic yacht. She had a sweeping sheer, lovely, long overhangs, a gracefully curved stem, an elegant counter stern, and a towering topmast rig. To Phillips, no other working vessel in Australian waters looked half so nice. It was love at first sight. Phillips dreamed that one day he and STORM BAY would come together.
