Russians move to get ahead of Gabon oil game in negotiations

RUSSIAN gas giant Gazprom and oil player Zarubezhneft are in "advanced negotiations with local partners" in Gabon on potential collaboration, including in the upstream sector, according to Gabon's Minister for Hydrocarbons, Noel Mboumba, writes Barry Morgan. Mboumba said officials had concluded a "promising" working session during the recent Russia-Africa Forum in Sochi to discuss strategic issues, involving Russian Vice-Minister of Energy Yury Manevich, Russia's Ambassador to Gabon Dmitry Kurakov, Zarubezhneft managing director Alexander Belov and Gazprom deputy managing director Oleg Vakhovsky.
