Further to my letter (Journal, 924) advocating the use of electric traction for heritage railways, a further speculation. There has been, in recent years, some creditable enterprise in proposing or actually recreating steam locomotives, although these incline towards favouring representatives of a late, and rather limited era of steam evolution. Perhaps also not entirely in the innovative spirit that characterised the cutting edge of steam engineering, although they remain splendid products of team working and planning.
