The Scandinavian Journal of Management (SJM) is characterized by passion for empirical inquiry. In practice, this means that a large majority of manuscripts submitted to, and eventually accepted in, the journal report empirical material of some kind. However, there is no reason to ward off conceptual papers, which can be important in identifying new avenues for empirical research. In this spirit, the SJM Editorial Office occasionally commissions state-of-the-art review articles. This is to sensitize contributors and readers of the journal to a timely theme or phenomenon, where the Editors would like to encourage more research activity. In 2007, we consider management education to be precisely such a theme.
