Biosynthesis of Noble Metal Nanoparticles: From Synthesis to Applications

摘要

Nanobiotechnology is born at the interface of nanotechnology and biotechnology. Recent research in the field of synthesis of nanoparticles from inorganic materials is relatively a new and thrilling area of research which has considerable potentiality for development. Among the inorganic metals, noble metals like silver and gold particularly have caught the interest of materials scientists since they have proven to be potent for acting as antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer agents etc. Bio based synthesis of nanoparticles are proving to be more effective in medicinal applications than the bare metal nanoparticles since the biomass coatings on them act synergistically with the metal nanoparticles. The current review gives an idea about the importance of biogenic metallic silver and gold nanoparticles synthesis, their characterization and possible applications.
