New evidence regarding organizational downsizing and a firm's financial performance: A long-term analysis

摘要

To study the effects of downsizing on the overall financial performance of large firms in the United States. A detailed statistical analysis is effected on a set of firms selected from the United States on the effects of downsizing implemented by them in relation to firms that did not downsize during the period 1987-1998. The study has brought out important findings on the trends in the financial performance of these firms which are summarized.
