The morning commute; there's a commotion in the rearview mirror. Behind me materializes an immaculate, black Porsche 911, slicing lane to lane, gunning up to limit-adhering motorists, jinking over to the adjoining lane again. By the time I slow for a stoplight, my mirrors are black with Carrera. Green light:The 911 is nipping my rear bumper as the driver attempts to spur me forward, hungry to create enough gap to dive past. It doesn't come, but in a moment he takes it anyway, lunging sideways, forcing the vehicle at my left-rear to brake and swerve. For a second or two, the Porsche is clear, throttle open wide, gunning five or six car lengths ahead. Then another traffic light goes red and-despite all that effort, combusting all that premium unleaded, taking all those risks, and angering so many other motorists-the 911 has ended up...one car length in front.
