When Schwabe North America designed a new 100,000-square-foot distribution center in Green Bay, Wisc., the manufacturer and distributor of food supplements and nutriceuticals wanted to take a fresh look at all of its materials handling. "In our old distribution center, we operated in an RF environment with bar codes," says Olaf Schwabe, the company's director of organizational development. "With a greenfield facility, we had the ability to evaluate all of the different technologies available today."
